Hiking of Volcano Quetrupillan
Between the two famous volcanoes, Villarrica and Lanín, lies the 2,382 meter volcano Quetrupillán, also known as “Mocho”. Hiking this exploded, compound, stratocone volcano is a good alternative for hikers who want to experience something different than the famous Villarrica volcano. This dormant volcano has a beautiful lake found in the crater. Part of the hike goes through a native forest, which offers beautiful views of the other volcanoes, lakes and rivers. From Pucón, it takes about 60 to 75 minutes to get to the trailhead. You will start your ascent at 1,040 mts. and will cover 1,342 mts. of altitude to reach the summit. In total, you walk approximately eight kilometers one way, which takes between three and a half to four hours travelling upwards and two to three hours to come back down. |
