Mushing with Huskies
"Tour Villarrica Traverse"underline mini

The perfect combination: three days riding with husky sled dogs, spending a night in an igloo and bathing in one of the most beautiful hot springs in the country. This a great excursion to get to know mushing, Inuit life, and the Geometric Hot Springs. You will take a public bus to Villarrica, where your guide will pick you up in a 4x4 Landrover for a twenty minute ride towards the Pino Huacho sector of the Villarrica volcano. Passing through a snowy araucaria forest on a 4x4 trail with views of the Villarrica Volcano, Lake Villarrica and Calafquén, you will approach your destination. After a short ride in a snowmobile or, alternatively, a forty minute trek through the snow, you will reach the mountain hut where the dogs are located. There, you will be introduced to the equipment (harnesses and sled), and more importantly, to the Huskies! As a future musher, you will learn the basic skills about handling sled dogs. Together with your teammates, you will prepare the huskies and the sled. Each participant will handle their own sled, pulled by two to six huskies, and will carry their own equipment. With your help and strength of the dogs, you will learn to glide through a landscape of forest and snow. In the afternoon, we will arrive at a small igloo village, where, after a hot dinner, you will spend the night. The next day, you will enjoy another snow-filled day with the Huskies. In the afternoon, we will return to Villarrica to catch the bus to Pucón.
