CulTour Mapuche "Trai Trai Co"
In our cultural tour “Trai Trai Co”, you will have the opportunity to meet the most relevant ethnical group in the country: the Mapuche community. This CulTour Mapuche combines the water ("trai trai co" means “waterfalls” in Mapudungun), one of the most representative elements of the region, with the ethnical Mapuche culture. Awaiting us is a full day of exuberant culture and a visit to an amazing waterfall. Respecting the traditions and the natural environment, we will head out towards Argentina to enjoy a spectacular view of Lake and Volcano Villarrica as well as Lake Caburgua in our first viewpoint stop “Los Nevados”. Leaving from Pucón towards Argentina, our second stop will be at Salto El León, a waterfall that is 92 meters high and is in the Palguín sector. After this refreshing visit with various potential rainbow sightings, we will continue our trip towards the intercultural village Curarrehue, a border town, full of natural charms and Mapuche cultural heritage. Here, we will visit the Center of Mapuche culture “Trawupeyüm” which in Mapudungun means “where we meet”, to discover more about the history and the culture of this group of people. This small museum will tell us about some Mapuche legends and we will get to see some of their cultural artifacts. Afterwards, a tasty authentic lunch of the Araucanía will be waiting for us. We will have the famous "sopaipillas" served with special home made "pebre", Mapuche specialities that are prepared for us by an internationally recognized cook and we will drink a mate or wheat coffee to get us ready to continue our trip. From there, we will visit an organic beekeeping farm to discover how a young Mapuche entrepreneur has managed her beehives in this beautiful, but not climatically favorible area. We will be able to learn about the process of cultivating honey, polen and propolis to produce sustainable, organic cosmetics. These products are also distributed in ELEMENTOS to support the local economy. The handmade products are made and packaged 100% by the Mapuche family that we visit. With our CulTour Mapuche, we help constructing markets with identity and collaborate with the development of the economies of the indigenous towns within the Araucanía Region. |
