Hiking of Volcano Lanin (2 days)

Climbing Volcano Lanin (Altitude: 3,840 meters) is a unique adventure, close to the border of neighboring country Argentina. The ascent of this conical stratovolcano requires a trek of two days from the Chilean side and, in the middle of the hike towards the peak, we spend a night in a mountain refuge, where one can appreciate the beauty and see the impressive star-filled sky. The location of the volcano in the Andes Mountain range is quite privileged, as it is two thousand meters higher than any mountain around it. From there, one can view the ‘Fire Belt’, formed by the volcanoes Quetrupillan, Villarrica, Llaima, Lonquimay, Choshuenco and Achen Ñiyeu, like the known Tronador, Bayo, and Chapelco Mountains. Note that this volcano is on the border between Chile and Argentina. This allows us to see the Argentinian prairie and admire the Chilean beauty all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Climbing Volcano Lanin is an adventure for strong legs, as it is a combination of irregular environments with snow and rocky slopes of alluvium.
