Interpretive Hike
"Conguillío National Park"
| During this tour, we invite you to experience a wonderful araucaria forest, a paradise that is over 1500 years. The park is possibly one of the only remaining places on the planet where the scenery still seems like it were from the times of dinosaurs. Leaving Pucón, we head to the town of Melipeuco, and continue on to the sector Truful-Truful, which is at the entrance of the National Park Conguillío. We will have a short stop at the "Cañadón", where we will learn about the geology and geomorphology of the landscape, as well the local flora and fauna. We will continue our hike to the "Valle de la Luna" (moon valley), named after its lunar landscape, where we will experience the desolate landscape of volcanic slag and fine sand, deposited over innumerable eruptions. From this area, we will have a privileged view of the monumental Llaima Volcano and the Lagoon Verde. Going further into the National Park Conguillío, we will explore the Rainbow Lagoon with turquoise-clear waters that are home to ancient tree trunks, deposited on the bottom of the lagoon. Continuing for a few kilometers, we will arrive at "Playa Linda", where we will follow a trail through ancient coihue, rauli and araucaria trees, finishing at a panoramic viewpoint, with views over Conguillío Lake and the volcanic complex Sierra Nevada. Back to Playa Linda, we will head to Playa Curacautin to enjoy a picnic lunch. We will also visit the information centre of the Federal Forest Coorparation (CONAF), and head to our last stop, the "Mother Araucaria", one of the tallest and thus oldest araucaria trees in the National Park Conguillío. From there, we head back to Pucon via Melipeuco. |
