Interpretive Hike
"Mini-Volcanoes of Villarrica"underline mini

This two and a half hour hike is for the whole family. While having a spectacular view of the lake and volcano Villarrica, you can – among others – admire Lake Carburgua and Volcano Lanin in the distance. The hike passes over old lava fields, partially covered with native flora. Through forests, dried up river beds and cold lava streams, the easy path leads you to your destination: a lava field with a row of five to ten meter wide parasite craters, fed by Volcano Villarrica. While somehave eroded over time, others still look very much like craters and one can see how the lava must have flown out. Your way back will lead you to the volcanic caves and lava tubes. Here, you will have to opportunity to visit the volcanic caves, natural lava tubes leading you deep into the volcano. You will be head back to Pucón after a visit to the caves or directly after finishing the hike. If you have plans to hike to the main crater of Villarrica, this is a nice introduction to the volcano. All other adventurers will get a good taste of what the main crater is like and learn a lot about the volcano itself.
